Stephen Cochran Celebrates an Advertising Award and Readies His Upcoming Single, “Walmart Flowers”.

With New Single on the Horizon, Aria/Quarterback Recording Artist’s
Innovative Marketing Garners an “Addy” Award

Nashville – Between his recent tour of the Middle East, scores of benefit
appearances on behalf of his fellow veterans, and constant roadwork in
support of his acclaimed, self-titled debut album, Stephen Cochran has a lot
on his plate these days. And while he has built his loyal fan base one gig
at a time, some innovative and very cool marketing strategies have helped
with the steady growth of the singer/songwriter’s career.

One such strategy, created by Nashville’s GrassRoots Marketing, recently
took home a Silver Addy award from the American Advertising Federation. The
award, presented to GrassRoots Marketing at ceremonies held recently in
Nashville, recognized the popular online game the company created in
conjunction with Cochran’s single, “Thinkin’ I’m Drinkin’.” The game gives
fans the chance to upload their photo, which is inserted into a virtual
barroom standing next to Cochran. Skilled players watch their faces change
the more they “consume,” as the rowdy “Thinkin’ I’m Drinkin’” plays in the
background. With over 60,000 entries annually, the Addy Awards are one of
the world’s largest and toughest advertising competitions.

Even as he celebrates this latest award, Cochran has found the time to head
into the studio and begin work on his highly anticipated sophomore release.
In fact, the album’s debut single, “Wal-Mart Flowers,” is already completed
and is scheduled to ship to radio stations on April 13.

“‘Wal-Mart Flowers’ is one of those special songs that only comes along once
in a while,” Cochran says. “The first time I heard it, I knew I had to
record it and I knew I had to do it my way. That’s why I ended up
co-producing the record with my longtime producer, Jim Allison. I’ve never
been as excited about a song as I am about ‘Wal- Mart Flowers.’”

Stephen Cochran Honors and Assists His Fellow Veterans With Timeless Country Music, High-Tech Wheelchairs, and “Wal-Mart Flowers”

Nashville – Whether it’s his exploding country music career or his undying commitment to honor and assist his fellow veterans, Aria recording artist Stephen Cochran is seemingly unstoppable. Just back from the Middle East, where he entertained and energized the troops with songs from his acclaimed, self-titled debut, Cochran will head to Washington, DC on February 25, where he will do an interview and performance for Voice of America radio, before heading over to the Pentagon Channel for another interview centering on his music and his message.

A decorated Marine veteran of campaigns in both Iraq and Afghanistan, Cochran overcame severe combat injuries to make his way back to the stage, quickly growing into one of country music’s fastest-rising stars. From the start, the singer/songwriter, despite a non-stop touring schedule, has made it his business to help his fellow veterans at every turn. Through his tireless work as a board member for the Independence Fund, Cochran has already helped purchase 17 costly i-Bot wheelchairs for injured veterans.  Cochran also spends as much time as he can helping The Coalition to Salute Heroes, an organization that allows individuals, corporations and others to help severely wounded and disabled rebuild their lives.

“If we can pay a guy a million dollars to shoot a basketball, a man that shoots his rifle in defense of this country should make at least that much,” Cochran says. “Anything that I can do for these American heroes is something that I love doing.”

Following his Voice of America and Pentagon Channel interviews, Cochran will fly to Pensacola, Florida to perform a benefit show to raise funds for the upcoming EscaRosa Independence Weekend. Held from From May From 14-17, the event, which will combine a Bicycle Rally, a Motorcycle Ride, a 5k Walk, and, of course, a full-blown Stephen Cochran performance.

Somehow, between tour dates, benefit performances and personal appearances, Cochran has found the time to head into the studio to begin work on his highly anticipated sophomore release. Although the singer, who will co-produce this time out, promises to take more time recording his all-important followup CD, you can hear the excitement in his voice when he talks about the album’s debut single, “Wal-Mart Flowers,” which he’s already recorded.

“I really feel like this is my first top 10 single,” Cochran says. “Jay Turner, a program director out in California, recently told me, ‘Stephen, you’re only three minutes away from that next big hit, and when you find it, you’ll know it.’ And the first time I heard the finished version of ‘Wal-Mart Flowers,’ it hit me; this song is my three minutes.”

Katie Armiger to be Featured as “Discovery Artist of the Week” on iTunes

Katie Armiger will be featured this week, starting Tuesday, July 29th, as the “Discovery Artist of the Week” on iTunes. Katie was chosen based on her merit as a rising young talent to be the featured discovery artist, an honor that is reserved for artists whom iTunes considers to be the most explosive and cutting-edge. Visitors to iTunes will be able to get a free download of Katie’s current single “Unseen” off of her second album Believe, which was released on Cold River Records earlier this Summer.

“It is such an incredible honor to be chosen by iTunes as the Discovery Artist,” said Katie. “I personally use iTunes all the time so to go on there and see my album featured will be a milestone moment in my career. I am just so excited.”

Katie’s feature on the main iTunes page and Country genre page will not go “Unseen” by the millions of music fans who visit iTunes each day. Her single, which is currently climbing the Country charts, is a powerful song written by Brian Nash, Whitney Duncan, and Jennifer Schott. “Unseen” is the only song off of Believe that Katie did not have a hand in writing but was the first song Katie wanted to go to radio with because of its empowering message.

Katie is also featured in the current issue of Country Weekly, on newsstands now, in their new ‘Listen Up!’ section where the magazine gives away free downloads of new songs by up and coming artists. Fans can visit http://www.countryweekly.com/freemusic/ to get the free download of Katie’s song “Movin’ On” off of Believe, which Katie co-wrote with Nashville Star contestant and close friend Ashlee Hewitt.

Believe is in stores now and has already gotten a great response from radio and journalists alike dubbing Katie’s writing and vocal talent on the album mature, skilled, and beyond her years. For more information on Katie you can visit her website at www.katiearmiger.com.
